The police watchdog has launched an investigation into an officer's actions at an out-of-control Christchurch party

The police watchdog has launched an investigation into an officer's actions at an out-of-control Christchurch party

The incident was caught on video as police tried to quell a party of about 200 revellers on Waimairi Road in Ilam, late on Thursday night.

One officer was heard calling a woman 'skanky' before shoving another man to the ground, after he swore at the officer in response.

Canterbury District Commander Superintendent John Price, says the incident has been investigated by Police Professional Conduct and handed over to the IPCA.

He says police are expected to act professionally, and any allegation of misconduct faces heavy scrutiny.
