The High Court has ordered the Ministry of Health to hand over Maori vaccination data to the Whanau Ora Commissioning Agency

The High Court has ordered the Ministry of Health to hand over Maori vaccination data to the Whanau Ora Commissioning Agency

Te Pou Matakana Limited and Whanau Tahi Limited had challenged the ministry's decision to withhold data on individuals

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins had previously said they wanted to provide data, but privacy laws had to be respected.

The Ministry has now been ordered to urgently re-take its decision within three working days.

Whanau Ora CEO John Tamihere says it's a great case to win.

But he says the problem is that they were fought and blocked at every turn - and it wasn't until 10 weeks ago they started to get heat maps which the Ministry has had since April.
