A former Manchester United defender will be putting on the black and yellow Wellington Phoenix kit to see out the current A-League football season.

The Phoenix have signed 30-year-old defender Scott Wootton , who has played over 200 English league games since turning pro in 2010.

Wootton played on four occasions for United as a 21-year-old in the 2012-13 season, and was coached by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Newcastle have signed England full-back Kieran Trippier on a two-and-a-half-year contract from Atletico Madrid, for a fee understood to be in the region of 12 million pounds.
