The North Island's east coast is next in line for heavy rain
7 February 2022
The Taranaki region got soaked yesterday -- with one weather station recording a month's worth of rain in just four hours.
That's after flooding caused evacuations on the South Island's West Coast late last week.
MetService forecaster Aidan Pyselman says the downpours are now moving east.
He says there are heavy rain warnings and watches in place from Coromandel, down to Gisborne and Hawkes Bay.
The warning's are in place until 7pm today..and the rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly and surface flooding and slips.
