A number of slips have damaged the Waimangaroa water supply, on the West Coast

Civil Defence says urgent repairs are underway, and water has been tanked to the area.

People are being asked to boil water before drinking and be conservative in what they take.

The heavy rain is also seeing more residents needing to evacuate, in nearby Westport.
