Police are appealing for witnesses of last Saturday's fatal police shooting near New Plymouth

They've confirmed 22-year-old Kaoss Price wasn't armed at the time -- but had driven his car at officers, and had attempted to commandeer the cars of bystanders.

Meanwhile, armed police have responded to an incident in Oamaru overnight.

And the search is continuing for a missing fisherman in Bay of Plenty, after the reported discovery of his chilly bin on Whale Island.
