Police are investigating a serious assault on a mobile speed camera operator in Invercargill

Police are investigating a serious assault on a mobile speed camera operator in Invercargill

The operator was parked in the northbound lane on Dee Street, near Thames Street just before 8.20 on Friday night.

Inspector Jon Bisset says a person riding a motorcycle stopped a short distance away from the van before smashing one of the windows, hitting the victim.

They received moderate injuries and are now recovering at home.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the assault, or a motorcycle in the area at that time.
