A Levin man's been slapped with a 30-thousand dollar fine for illegally supplying raw milk

A Levin man's been slapped with a 30-thousand dollar fine for illegally supplying raw milk

Phillippa and John Martins were caught in a sting when they sold milk to an MPI officer posing as a customer.

It was part of countrywide MPI operations in 2019.

The Martins' operation didn't comply with new 2016 legislation, and wasn't registered with MPI.

Open Justice reports John Martins was convicted on three charges of breaching the animal products act, and charges against Phillippa Martins were dropped.
