Two luxury inner Auckland townhouses are being sold at a huge discount, as the housing downturn starts to bite

Two luxury inner Auckland townhouses are being sold at a huge discount, as the housing downturn starts to bite

The price of one of the new Westmere homes has dropped from 2.1-million dollars to 1.75-million dollars, while the other has dropped from 2.45-million to 2.2-million.

The developer isn't saying why they have discounted the townhouses so heavily.

However, Harcourts Real Estate spokesperson David Findlay says just one in three developers are getting projects off the ground at the moment.

He says for them it's just about making sure they can actually finish the build.

The average Auckland house price has fallen 61-thousand dollars in the last three months.
