Development West Coast is estimating they have about 150 vacancies in those two sectors.

Greymouth Business and Promotions Association co-chair Phillip Barnett says it's not that the workers aren't there.

He suggests they've been treated poorly in the past.

Barnett says the hospitality and visitor industry is no longer viewed as sexy.
