Three gang members have been charged as part of a Bay of Plenty police operation

Three gang members have been charged as part of a Bay of Plenty police operation

It was launched in August, after officers responded to reports of intimidation, dangerous driving, and threatening behaviour by gang members in Kawerau.

A parked police patrol car, with two officers inside, was hit by a car, which then fled.

Men aged 29 and 30 have been charged with a range of offences, and will appear in Whakatane District Court in November.

A 26-year-old has been given about 50 hours community work, after pleading guilty to disorderly behaviour, escaping custody and possessing cannabis
