Some Westpac customers affected by the recent Christmas technology blunder could receive a reimbursement

Many households are starting the year with overdrafts or extra debt, after transactions made on two of the busiest Christmas shopping days were only processed a fortnight later.
The bank is encouraging affected customers to get in touch, and it may offer reimbursements on a case-by-base basis.
Our newsroom has obtained an email suggesting staff have been authorised to give refunds of up to 800-dollars.
Westpac won't confirm the email, but has confirmed any overdraft fees and interest incurred will be automatically waived.
