Every region is seeing red, when it comes to household economic confidence

The latest Westpac McDermott Miller Regional economy survey shows household economic confidence has dropped nationwide.

Northland and Auckland remain the most negative regions, while economic confidence is falling fastest in Waikato and Wellington.

Westpac economist Nathan Penny says the survey finding is further evidence households are doing it tough.

He's putting it down to interest rates going up, and cost of living increases hitting households in the wallet.
