    Just under 2400 homes and businesses are now without power in the Far North


    The worst-hit areas include part of Kaitaia, and a large area to the east of the town as far as Kaingaroa on State Highway 10, with 11-hundred homes affected.

    Lines company Top Energy says 7pm is the estimated restoration time.

    Large outages north of Kaitaia earlier this morning, at Pukenui and Te Kao, have been fixed.
