More calls for additional police on the beat, after the latest spate of shootings

More calls for additional police on the beat, after the latest spate of shootings

Our newsroom can reveal Saturday's fatal shooting at Point England's Taurima Reserve may be linked to simmering gang tensions in the city.

Police believe Sunday's fatal shooting in Palmerston North is also gang-related, and a manhunt is continuing after Thursdays' fatal shooting in downtown Auckland.

Heart of the City Chief Executive Viv Beck says cops need to be more visible.

She says the one thing that can be done right now is to increase police presence so people know violence and crime is not acceptable.
