Wellingtonians are being warned snow is on its way

Metservice has issued a snowfall warning for State Highway 2 in the Remutaka Hill from early tomorrow.

Snow is forecast to about 400 metres, with four to six centimetres expected to settle on the road.

Meanwhile, a heavy snow watch remains in force for inland Buller and western parts of the Tasman district from early tomorrow morning.

Snow watches are in place from Southland, Otago, the Queenstown Lakes District and all the way up to Canterbury and inland Marlborough.
