    The official candidate and party lists have been released .. with a total of 19 registered political parties contesting this year's election


    A total of 567 candidates, both electorate and list, are standing.

    Electoral Commission spokesperson Anusha Guler says that's about 100 less than in 2020, but similar to the three elections prior.

    She says the electorates with the most candidates are Dunedin, East Coast, Kaikoura and Wellington Central with 11 candidates each.
