New Zealand could be back out of recession this morning
21 September 2023
The latest GDP figures for the second quarter of this year -- due out this morning -- are expected to show New Zealand's economy is growing once again.
Spending on goods remains weak, and the economy isn't growing on a per capita basis.
But Westpac's Kelly Eckhold and ASB's Nick Tuffley say things are "less worse" than they were in the first quarter of the year.
Eckhold says the economy has been making up for that first quarter.
Tuffley says the bounceback in the agriculture and service service sectors is driving that turnaround.
