Westpac New Zealand bank is integrating new technology into its fraud monitoring systems

It's partnering with Biocatch, a global cybersecurity company that analyses customers' online behaviour.

The bank has recently made a settlement payment to a 71-year-old Dunedin pensioner who lost 100 thousand dollars to cyber criminals.

Chief Executive Catherine McGrath says the system looks at data points to gauge whether a user's making a payment in their normal way.

She says it looks at how quickly someone types in payment details - to see if it's at their normal pace.
