    MetService is warning people in Kaipara, the Far North and Whangarei severe thunderstorms are on the way, in the coming hours

    MetService is warning people in Kaipara, the Far North and Whangarei severe thunderstorms are on the way, in the coming hours


    Its weather radar detected a line of severe thunderstorms lying from Mititai to Kaitaia.

    It says its moving southwest, and should impact from Te Kopuru to Ahipara this hour.

    It'll likely move across Dargaville to offshore west of Ninety Mile Beach before 5pm.

    MetService says torrential rain may cause surface and flash flooding about streams, gullies and urban areas.
