    Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for Opotiki, Whakatane and Gisborne


    MetService says the thunderstorms are moving north east across the eastern part of the North Island.

    They're expected to be accompanied by heavy rain and hail.

    A severe thunderstorm watch remain in force for Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay.
