Caution is the key message for Kiwis hitting the road this long weekend

Caution is the key message for Kiwis hitting the road this long weekend

NZTA's expecting a record amount of travellers, especially with those heading north of Auckland for Waitangi Day.

Journey Manager Kingston Brands says people should use their newly updated Holiday prediction tool, to avoid heading out in peak times.

Police say after losing 34 lives on the road in January, drivers need to have the safety of themselves and others front of mind.

Those in Auckland can expect strong winds on the Harbour Bridge through till 2pm today.
