A new MBIE report shows residential building demand is falling - relieving some strain on the sector.
Activity is forecast to settle at a more sustainable level, where supply and demand are closer than they have been in recent years.
System Strategy and Performance Manager Micheal Warren says they're also expecting the value of infrastructure works to reach a new high in 2026, where it will remain.
He says this projection is largely driven by the rebuild following last year's extreme weather events - and a focus on increasing resilience throughout New Zealand.
