A 20-hectare blaze is burning in a rural area near Duntroon, while fire crews battle three separate fires in Middlemarch - about 150-kilometres away.
They were both reported shortly after midnight.
Yesterday northerlies averaged 30-kilometres an hour, and temperatures reached 23 degrees in Waitaki.
MetService meteorologist Surprise Mhlongo says spots of rain are expected this morning, before a front passes through.
