Mercury's confirmed it will go ahead on expanding the Kaiwera Downs wind farm, near Gore

Construction on the 486-million-dollar project begins this month -- for completion late 2026.

It'll generate the equivalent of enough electricity for 73-thousand homes a year.

Spokesperson, Phil Gibson, says Mercury's excited to start another project helping the country move to a lower-carbon future.
