The Waitomo District Mayor's asking Te Kuiti residents to look out for each other, after the death of a baby boy

Police have launched a homicide investigation, after a 10-month-old was brought to hospital on Saturday afternoon, and couldn't be revived.

Initial examination shows he sustained violent blunt-force trauma, that didn't appear to be accidental.

John Robertson's urging the community to support those who may be going through something traumatic.

He says to look out and assist where they can if this is a case of family violence.
