A neighbour of the Te Kuiti baby who died over the weekend says he heard "hysterical screaming" coming from the house

A neighbour of the Te Kuiti baby who died over the weekend says he heard "hysterical screaming" coming from the house

Police have launched a homicide investigation, after doctors couldn't save the unconscious 10-month-old boy on Saturday afternoon.

It's believed his injuries aren't accidental, and Oranga Tamariki's assisting Police in their investigations.

The Waikato Herald's Maryana Garcia says the neighbour claims to have heard the scream at 2pm on Saturday.

She says he then saw a car drive to the house, and he could hear the scream coming from inside the vehicle when they left.
