A 22 year old man accused of murdering 10-month-old Mustafa Ali last Saturday - has made his first court appearance

The infant died of blunt force injuries Police say were "non-accidental" - in the Te Kuiti Hospital.

The man faced Judge Noel Cocurullo in the Hamilton District Court - where he appeared calm and quiet.

The Herald's Cherie Howie, says he's been granted name suppression until his next appearance.
