New amendments to the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Bill have passed the third reading in Parliament, which gives cellar doors with off-licences, the option to charge for tastings.
Kaikoura MP Stuart Smith says it both ensures responsible drinking and helps out those wineries economically.
New Zealand Winegrowers advocacy general manager Sarah Wilson, says they'll also have new host responsibilities.
She says those cellar doors charging will have to have a range of snack foods like chips and crackers available for purchase -- which wasn't previously required.
