A suspected repeat offender has been arrested after trying to sneak away from a crime

Police say the man, believed to have previously pilfered items from the Waihi Transfer Station along with the CCTV cameras, was onsite again around 7pm last night.

After hiding from Police and thinking the coast was clear, the man left, however was quickly taken into custody.

The 28-year-old's been charged with burglary, possession of methamphetamine and possession of meth utensils.

He's due to appear in Hamilton District Court today.
