Expectation a grounded barge will remain on Westport's Carters Beach for several more days

Expectation a grounded barge will remain on Westport's Carters Beach for several more days

Maritime NZ personnel are onsite, helping the 100-metre vessel prepare for a potential re-float this week, after it washed up on Saturday night.

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission's launched an investigation into the incident.

Buller Mayor Jamie Cleine says there are no environmental concerns at the moment.

He says they acknowledge there's still a long way to go, to get the situation resolved.
