    Weather warnings for the North Island's East Coast have widened


    MetService orange heavy rain warnings now cover the Wairoa District, Gisborne, and Hastings north of Napier until tomorrow morning.

    It warns up to 250 millimetres of rain could be seen in some areas.

    The forecaster says surface flooding and slips are possible, as are rapid rises to streams and rivers.
