    One of Mark Lundy's lawyers says the fact he maintains his innocence doesn't prevent him being granted parole


    Lundy's spent more than 23 years behind bars for killing of his wife Christine and seven-year-old daughter Amber in their Palmerston North home in August 2000.

    He'll be released from prison next month - subject to a list of conditions.

    Barrister Julie-Ann Kincade KC says the more traditional path to parole is an admission of guilt -- but maintaining one's innocence isn't a bar to being released.

    She says even if he were to admit the offending after all this time, it wouldn't change his low-risk assessment.
