A decade-long question -- are a father and son missing from Southland dead or alive?

A decade-long question -- are a father and son missing from Southland dead or alive?

A Coronial hearing reconvenes today into the disappearance of Michael Zhao-Beckenridge and his step-father, John Beckenridge, in the Catlins in 2015.

John broke a court order and took the 11-year-old from his Invercargill school.

Beckenridge's car was found in the sea near Curio Bay, at the base of a cliff a week later- but no bodies.

There's claims the pair were never in the car and are hiding out overseas somewhere.

Coroner Marcus Elliott is reconvening a coronial hearing into their mysterious disappearance.
