The number of Kiwis moving offshore is almost at a record high

The number of Kiwis moving offshore is almost at a record high

Stats NZ figures show annual net migration is below 14-thousand, from more than 70-thousand the previous year.

Almost 72-thousand Kiwis have left the country in the past year.

That's near the record reached after the 2011 Christchurch quake -- but, on a per capita basis still well below the brain drain of the 1970s.

Meanwhile, tourism numbers are still more than 10-percent levels seen before Covid.
