Police have uncovered several drivers in Southland's Gore, who were driving dangerously and under the influence of alcohol

Police have uncovered several drivers in Southland's Gore, who were driving dangerously and under the influence of alcohol

Around 200 vehicles were breath checked last week, with four people nearly twice the legal limit, and charged with excess breath alcohol.

Infringements were also issued to several other drivers, for not wearing seatbelts, using their phones, and speeding.

Sergeant Christopher Dunbar says alcohol and drugs are a factor in about 20 percent of all fatal crashes.
