Super Rugby's lucky loser in the playoffs won't be quite as lucky in 2026

Super Rugby's lucky loser in the playoffs won't be quite as lucky in 2026

The six-team playoff format has been retained for next year but - unlike this year - the highest ranked losing team will be fourth seed for the rest of the playoffs.

This year, that would have meant the Chiefs would have had to travel to Christchurch to face new top-seeds the Crusaders in the semi-finals.

Speaking of the defending champs - they'll host three home games at their temporary venue - before a mid-season switch to the new Te Kaha precinct for a back-ended home schedule.

Coach Rob Penney says they're looking forward to farewelling Apollo Projects Stadium over Easter Weekend against the Drua.

The Blues - meanwhile - have listed all their home game venues as 'to be confirmed'.
