Victoria Beckham sees Giorgio Armani as a "true legend" of the fashion industry

The iconic designer passed away on Thursday (04.09.25), aged 91, and Victoria has already taken to social media to play a glowing tribute to Armani

The singer-turned-designer wrote on Instagram: "The fashion world has lost a true legend in Giorgio Armani - a visionary designer whose legacy will live on forever.

"I feel honoured to have called him a friend [heart emoji] (sic)"

Movie star Russell Crowe has also paid a heartfelt tribute to the fashion icon.

The 61-year-old actor said: "I adored him. He was so kind. So many significant moments in my life, awards, wedding, Wimbledon ... all in Armani."

Elsewhere, Giorgia Meloni - the Italian Prime Minister - has hailed Armani as a "symbol of the best of Italy".

The politician said in a statement: "Giorgio Armani leaves us at 91 years old. With his elegance, sobriety, and creativity, he was able to bring lustre to Italian fashion and inspire the entire world.

"An icon, a tireless worker, a symbol of the best of Italy. Thank you for everything."

Meanwhile, Italian President Sergio Mattarella hailed Armani as a "symbol of Italian genius worldwide."

A statement read: "A shy and reserved personality, driven by an indefatigable creativity, over the long years of his career he redefined, on an international level, the canons of elegance and luxury. His sophisticated simplicity, his care for quality and attention to detail, have inspired and influenced generations of stylists."

Armani's death was first announced by his fashion house.

The company said in a statement: "With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force:

    Giorgio Armani.

"In this company, we have always felt like part of a family.

"Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love."
