Coach Giancarlo Italiano has realistic expectations for the Wellington Phoenix ahead of tonight's A-League men's football season-opener away in Perth

Coach Giancarlo Italiano has realistic expectations for the Wellington Phoenix ahead of tonight's A-League men's football season-opener away in Perth

The Nix face former defensive duo Sam Sutton and Scott Wooton, who joined the Glory - last season's wooden spooners - in the transfer window.

Wellington will need to bounce back after finishing third from bottom last campaign, but Italiano will judge his team on more than results.

    Kickoff's coming up at 11.45pm.
