New direct flights from Auckland to Chengdu have the potential to boost our Chinese visitor market

New direct flights from Auckland to Chengdu have the potential to boost our Chinese visitor market

Sichuan Airlines is running the year-round flights twice weekly from today - doubling the seasonal schedule it operated last summer.

Auckland Airport says it will now have up to 50 flights weekly across its China network.

Chief Customer Officer Scott Tasker says direct air services from major Chinese cities unlock new demand from visitors.

He says it's important to have these direct links, in order for New Zealand to be competitive as a tourism destination.
