Craig Robinson says an ex-girlfriend thought he was secretly married like Michelle Obama's brother of the same name

The 54-year-old actor said the confusion happened because a media outlet incorrectly used a photo of him instead of the former US First Lady's brother, 63, on a story about the college basketball coach and his wife, Kelly's, family life.

During an appearance on NBC's Today with Jenna + Sheinelle, The Office alum Craig told the hosts: "One time I was dating a girl, and she called me up crying thinking that I was [the] married Craig Robinson."

Co-host Sheinelle, 47, Jones joked: "She was like, 'How could you?'"

Further complicating the matter, co-anchor Jenna Bush Hager, 44, noted that the two Craig Robinsons come from Chicago.

Referring to the media outlet's error, actor Craig then quipped: "They had his name and my picture talking about his wife and kids. So yeah, that was a tricky one."

Mimicking how the star likely had responded to his girlfriend, Sheinelle joked: "'Baby, no, it's the wrong one.'"

Jenna chimed in: "'That's Mrs. Obama's brother.'"

Hot Tub Time Machine star Craig said: "That's what I was saying, but I was kind of laughing through it, too."

The presenters then surprised the comedian with a video message from Michelle Obama's brother Craig.

The ex ecutive Director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches quipped: "Hi, Craig Robinson, it's the other Craig Robinson."

He continued: "Broadway? Wow! Congrats on the show. And I heard people are getting us mixed up, so why don't we make the most of it?

"Let's have you host the IMO podcast with my sister, Michelle Obama, and I'll give Broadway a try.

"I would love to do that. Just let me know if that works, though.

"But seriously, congrats, man. Really happy for us!"

The actor - who is starring in the Broadway production All Out - is up for swapping roles with the other Craig.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star said: "I would love to do something with Craig Robinson."

Sheinelle added: "You know what? I smell a bromance, it's going to happen. We'll get you guys together."
