Carmen Electra's new tattoo is inspired by being "stabbed in the back"

The 53-year-old actress and model has opened up about the secret meaning behind the bold piece - which depicts praying hands holding a set of rosary beads - and revealed the inking was mostly done by a "single needle" to enhance the delicate design.

She told PEOPLE magazine: "You know, I've been stabbed in the back so many times.

"I figured if I have God's hands on my back, go ahead and try to stab me and see what kind of karma you get...

"I've had so many swords I pulled out of my back. I've turned them into paddles, and I've used them as paddles to get to shore. Now I'm on the other side, and now I see and now I know what I don't want."

The former Baywatch star was asked if she meant she'd been stabbed in the back in her professional or personal lives.

    She added: "Everything, dating."

When it comes to her love life, Carmen admitted her ex-husband Dave Navarro - who she was married to between 2003 and 2007 - may have set the standards high for any potential new partners.

She recalled: "Like the 10th of every month, we would get together, because we met on the 10th, and that was all his idea.

"Like, we're gonna have a special dinner for the 10th of every month, because we met on this date, cute things like that were really thoughtful."

Carmen - who was also married to Dennis Rodman from 1998 to 1999 - insisted she has a few deal breakers for anyone hoping to woo her.

She said: "I don't like liars. It's just really nice when you're with someone who's just really into you. I have had that before. It obviously didn't last...

"But once you know what it feels like to really be with someone who is so there for you, you can't undo that feeling.

"You know it's just beautiful. Somebody who's very romantic. I remember when I was dating Dave, I was so not romantic, and he was teaching me how to be romantic, but now I am."
