Jesy Nelson is finally ready to share why she left Little Mix

The 34-year-old star - who quit the girl group in 2020 - said there has always been a "false narrative" about why she walked away from bandmates Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall but she will reveal all in her upcoming six-part Prime Video docuseries Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix.

Speaking during a Q&A following a London screening of the first episode at The Cinema at Selfridges, Jesy, 34, told ex ecutive Producer, Demi Doyle: "I go into the reason why I left Little Mix, which I've never, ever spoken about, and that was really tough, because, like I said, there's been a constant narrative that's been written about me - I believe it gave a false narrative of why I left. This was my turn to say this is my truth, and this is why I left. But I also just really hope that it gets put to bed after this, because I feel like I've been carrying that weight for a really long time."

Jesy also opened up about caring for her twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, following their devastating diagnosis with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) Type 1, a rare muscle wasting disease and why she decided to share their journey in Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix.

She said: "It's tough, but like I said I'm just so grateful that you guys got everything, because I really believe that we're going to make real change. I really feel it and I'm so proud that, you know we're going to raise a lot of awareness in terms of everything with their diagnosis - even down to the twin-to-twin transfusion.

"This is the best time to do it, because how amazing that I have all of these memories to show my girls when they get older. I just think the universe is just wild, because the minute I let the cameras in, within two days of filming, I was rushed into hospital to have an emergency operation. You just couldn't write it.

"It's always hard, because I think a lot of people would maybe choose to not share this. But for me, when you go through something like this in your life, it puts everything into perspective. The s*** I used to care about and worry about just seems so insignificant to me now. It's so important to me for everyone to see this.

"I just really hope that when people watch it, if they're going through anything similar, you can just watch it, and think it doesn't matter what you're going through, you have to know that there's always light at the end of the tunnel. It will get better."

Not only is Jesy dealing her daughters' medical issues but she is also coming to terms with the breakdown of her relationship with the twins' father Zion Foster and the challenges of co-parenting.

She said: "We're doing good. It's been tough, I'm not going to b******* - it is really tough, and I think that's understandable with everything that we've gone through. But we're getting on with it, and our girls are our focus. They're happy, and they're doing really well, and that's what we can ask for as their parents."

All six episodes of Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix will be available exclusively on Prime Video from Friday 13th February.
