Prevailing winds have blown an Auckland ferry terminal opening off-schedule

Prevailing winds have blown an Auckland ferry terminal opening off-schedule

Services were due to resume at Northcote Point this morning, but adjustments to the piles and skipper training have been delayed by the weather.

The 60-year-old wharf has been closed since June 2018, with a daily patronage of 80 regular users, and a 2.6 million dollar repair bill.

North Shore ward councillor Richard Hills says it's disappointing, but hopes the opening will be sooner rather than later.

He says the wharf was only finished late last week and there hasn't been time to do all the necessary checks.
