St John says a surge in respiratory illnesses among staff is affecting ambulance services - especially in Auckland and Waikato

St John says a surge in respiratory illnesses among staff is affecting ambulance services - especially in Auckland and Waikato

It warns patients with non-life threatening emergencies could face delays or be asked to transport themselves to medical care.

In an emergency, patients should still dial 111 - but for non-emergencies, patients should consider calling their GP, Heathline, Urgent Care or pharmacies.

St John says it's committed to keeping people safe - and has implemented at home treatments and community pathways to reduce pressure on hospitals.
