Some residents of Northland's Dargaville are becoming vigilantes

Some residents of Northland's Dargaville are becoming vigilantes

The town and its surrounding region has been victim to a spate of recent burglaries and ram raids.

In the past two months, two homicides have also occurred at nearby Ripiro Beach, and Omamari.

Northern Wairoa Community Patrol secretary Rose Dixon says there is no 24/7 police presence, pushing some to take actions into their own hands.

She says victims are endangering themselves but seeking the identities and locations of the criminals.
