A man with links to the Black Power gang is facing the courts after a serious assault incident in Gisborne over the weekend

Police say two women were assaulted, threatened with a firearm, and had a shot fired towards them on Sunday afternoon.

    No one received serious injuries.

Police and the Armed Offenders Squad found the 29-year-old man this afternoon near Waikerekere Park along with a cut-down firearm.

He's due in Gisborne District Court tomorrow on several charges including serious assault and threatening to kill.
