A police search and rescue team is working to find a group lost on a walking track, north west of Dunedin

The group was reported lost and disorientated on the Chalkies Track, near Whare Flat at North Taieri last night.

A spokesperson says search and rescue have the group's coordinates and have advised them to stay put.

They do not believe anyone is injured.
