Avondale residents are in shock, after a woman was allegedly murdered in the Auckland suburb overnight

Police discovered the woman's body at a Holly Street property around 1.30 this morning.

A 35-year-old man's been charged with murder, and will appear in court on Monday.

Neighbours have told our newsroom they now feel unsafe in the area, with one saying crime has gotten out of control.

Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the death - and are conducting a scene examination.
