    A foreign national's spending more than five years behind bars, after smuggling around 26 kilograms of MDMA through Auckland Airport

    The 29-year old was subject to questioning and a baggage search last March, leading to Customs officers finding 25 black vacuum-sealed packages containing the illicit substance.

    He was charged with importation and possession for supply of a Class B drug.

    Customs Auckland Airport Manager Paul Williams says the bust prevented an estimated 5.3 million dollars in social harm and cost to New Zealand.
